From Mrs. Sabrina, Middle School Teacher...a recap of the Adventure on Wednesday, February 11, 2026--
We began our day with a campus tour, where students learned about WVU’s rich history. They were fascinated to discover that the university started in 1867 with just six students and has now grown to serve over 24,000 students. During our visit to the Downtown Campus, we saw Martin Hall, completed in 1870 as the original University Hall. It is the oldest building on WVU’s campus and part of the historic Woodburn Circle, which also includes the iconic Woodburn Hall (1876) and Chitwood Hall (1893). These beautiful 19th-century buildings are listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and students enjoyed learning about their historical significance.
Throughout the tour, we explored both the Downtown and Evansdale campuses and learned interesting facts, including how students travel between campuses using the PRT (Personal Rapid Transit monorail system). They also enjoyed hearing about the WVU football stadium, the Mountaineer mascot, and the tradition of having a live Mountaineer represent the university.
Our tour included visits to the Student Recreation Center, Evansdale Crossing, the Creative Arts Center, and the Mountainlair on the Downtown campus. The students were very engaged and asked thoughtful questions throughout the visit.
We had the pleasure of meeting Annie, who guided us through an exciting robotics experience. The students spent the first half of the session building their own LEGO robots. They were incredibly focused, creative, and proud of what they accomplished.
After that, we visited the Lane Innovation Hub, where students participated in an electronics workshop and built their own rover robots. They were thrilled to design, assemble, and test their creations — and they were even more excited to bring their robots home!
The students also enjoyed lunch on the Engineering campus, sharing their experiences and excitement with one another.
Overall, it was a fantastic day filled with learning, creativity, teamwork, and fun. Your children represented themselves and our school - Wisdom Academy, with responsibility and excellent behavior.
